Barium metal is one of the alkali-earths metals. Barium metal is solid and golden-grey at standard pressure and temperature, it is a very strong metal, but less than Beryllium. Barium metal reacts fast with water producing Hydrogen gas and barium hydroxide. Moreover it reacts with air producing a black film on its surface due to the presence of oxide, for that reason we put barium metal in high quality mineral oil or in argon sealed ampoule. Barium metal is hardly used except as a getter material, which binds unwanted rest gases in vacuum tubes. Barium compounds are scarcely used too, water soluble compounds of it are toxic.
The non-water-soluble barium sulfate, know as barium meal, is used as a radiographic contrast medium.
High Purity Barium metal distilled crystals, 1 gram sample in argon sealed ampoule, very shiny sample of Barium 99.99% pure. Barium metal for element collection and display. It comes inside a 60mm labeled glass vial.
High Purity Barium metal distilled shiny crystals, 3 grams sample in argon sealed ampoule, very shiny and oxide free sample of Barium 99.99%.
Pure Barium metal for element collection and display.
Amazing Barium metal standard density cube 10x10x10mm, 99.99% pure. The sample weighs 3.5 grams (with a tolerance of ± 0.1gram), which is the theoretical density of the Barium metal itself. This cube is amazing for any science classrooms, schools, universities and collectors. Pure Barium metal cube for element collection.
The sample comes under argon sealed ampoule.
