minerals for collection

Please take a look at our new minerals shop!

Here you will find a lot of spare minerals and minerals sets for collection and exhibition also in beautiful display cases. Some curiosities... do you know that when two or more minerals combine together they form a rock? The most common mineral found on Earth is quartz. All minerals are inorganic because they are made of nonliving particles, and all minerals are always solid and have a distinctive geometric shape called crystalline structure.

Now enjoy our collection, new minerals will be added every month!

Green Emerald in display case

Emerald is a gemstone and a variety of the mineral beryl (Be3Al2(SiO3)6) colored green by trace amounts of chromium or sometimes vanadium.

Most emeralds are highly included, so their toughness (resistance to breakage) is classified as generally poor. Emerald is a cyclosilicate.

The word "emerald" is derived (via Old French: esmeraude and Middle English: emeraude), from Vulgar Latin: esmaralda/esmaraldus, a variant of Latin smaragdus, which was via Ancient Greek: σμάραγδος (smáragdos; "green gem") from a Semitic language

Apatite in display case

The mineral was named Apatite by the German geologist Abraham Gottlob Werner in 1786, although the specific mineral he had described was reclassified as fluorapatite in 1860 by the german mineralogist Karl Friedrich August Rammelsberg. Apatite is often mistaken for other minerals. This tendency is reflected in the mineral's name, which is derived from the Greek word απατείν (apatein), which means to deceive or to be misleading.

Orpiment in display case

Orpiment is a common orange-yellow arsenic sulfide. It is found in volcanic fumaroles. Orpiment takes its name from the Latin auripigmentum (aurum, "gold" + pigmentum, "pigment") because of its deep-yellow color. Alchemists often used orpiment to try to get gold from copper, of corse it was impossible, because orpiment doesn't not contain any gold.
