Ytterbium metal forms a protective oxide layer in air, which makes it quite resistant. Ytterbium metal is not particularly rare for a lanthanoid, but difficult to separate from the others, so it is not used much. Ytterbium metal main application is as additive in special steels and for special permanent magnets. Ytterbium metal is about 25 - 30 % lighter (less dense) than its neighbors thulium and lutetium.
High purity Ytterbium metal shiny sample of about 1 gram 99.95% pure, argon sealed ampoule and labeled glass vial. Pure Ytterbium metal for element collection.
Dimensions of the ampoule: 40x12 approx.
Amazing Ytterbium metal standard density cube 10x10x10mm, 99.99% pure. The sample weighs 7 grams (with a tolerance of ± 0.1gram), which is the theoretical density of the Ytterbium metal itself. This cube is amazing for any science classrooms, schools, universities and collectors. Pure Ytterbium metal cube for element collection.
